Local Mayor leads Bond protest

James Bond is renowned for keeping his cool but Daniel Craig needed all his suave attitude when Carlos Lopez, mayor of a Chilean town near the new Bond film's current shooting location, led 200 angry locals onto the set.
Lopez was arrested for driving onto the set at the head of 200 locals protesting the police presence around the film set, and the fact that Chile was being used as a location to represent events that were taking place in Bolivia.

Lopez told Reuters: "For a town that has just 1,000 residents, sending in special forces and water cannon, preventing people from walking in the street, reminded me of the worst of the Pinochet years."
"I also disagree with national territory being used as locations (to represent) other countries. Even in a fictional film, unfortunately friendly, neighbouring countries use decisions like this to make unjustified claims."
The new Bond film, 'Quantum of Solace', is shooting in a controversial area that was annexed by Chile in the late 1800s having been part of Bolivia to that point.
'Quantum of Solace' opens on 31 October.
